Medicine Bow Snowmobiling
Locals call it ‘sledding’ and trust us, you don’t want to miss this thrilling way to see the untouched backcountry of Wyoming. Immerse yourself in an unforgettable day, snowmobiling the deep powder and remote high country trails of Wyoming’s famed Snowy Range Mountains. Named one of the top five snowmobiling destinations in the country, guests have direct access from our gates and are accompanied by our knowledgeable guides through the beauty of the Medicine Bow National Forest, which boasts over 245 miles of groomed trails and over 180 miles of ungroomed trails. With the ability to choose the length of your snowmobiling adventure and level of difficulty, you are in store for an enjoyable and exciting day.
Cross Country Skiing
Cross country skiing on the Ranch is spectacular. Whether venturing cat-groomed double-track trails for traditional cross country or exploring the vast spaces in between, here’s perhaps no better way to work off those grand feasts from the Trailhead Lodge than with a few laps around the course at sunrise as the sun blankets the valley and the fog rises off frozen Brush Creek.
Snowshoeing on the Ranch offers a serene way to explore the quieter stretches of our extensive trail system. Guests can enjoy both guided and non-guided snowshoe trips on more than 50 miles of groomed or ungroomed trails. Our trails provide guests options from flat, low-intensity terrain to steep, ungroomed terrain. We have snowshoes in sizes to fit both children and adults so everyone can take part in the fun while exploring the beauty of the ranch up close.
As long as there’s open waters, fly fishing on both the North Platte and Encampment rivers is available heading into the winter. Once our rivers freeze over around December or January, your next angling experience becomes ice-fishing, where you’ll have the opportunity to catch Rainbow and Brown trout in our six stocked, private ponds spread across the Ranch. Our guides have everything you’ll need, including ice augers, tackle, and shelters to make your time on the ice an unforgettable and comfortable experience.
Includes: Fly-Fishing, Private Water Fishing, Ice Fishing (per seasonality)
Journeying through the authentic American West wouldn’t be complete without a horseback adventure, and when the Ranch is covered in a blanket of snow, riding proves to be a truly unique experience.
