All floats are conducted on the North Platte and Encampment Rivers by way of either hard-sided fiberglass drift boats or inflatable rafts with fishing frames. Over 10 different float options ranging from two miles to 20 miles depending on water levels and conditions. Float season typically runs mid-may through July.
Some of the most notable tributaries in North America can be found in Wyoming. The upper reaches of the North Platte River flow through the Sierra Madre National Forest, then enter the Encampment River Wilderness area. French Creek and Brush Creek start high up in the Medicine Bow National Forest and run through our land. These waters, as well as our 6 different stillwater fisheries, offer guests unparalleled fishing experiences.
We are in the heart of our winter season here in the upper North Platte River Valley. For the most part, our rivers are locked up with ice and unfishable. The focus of our angling adventures is on ice fishing and tying flies in preparation of the upcoming season and closely monitoring the weather and snowpack reports. So far, we have had a reasonable winter with a lot of early season snow and our snowpack is right around 100%, or average for this time of year. The biggest snow months for us are yet to come so we are hopeful that we will end the winter with an average or above average snowpack. Lots of snow means lots of water!
Typically, we start seeing warmer temperatures in February and certain stretches of our rivers begin to open up and fly fishing opportunities become more and more available. By March and April we have numerous wade and float options and the spring, pre-runoff fishing can be phenomenal with chances of some of the largest fish of the year. We have some available dates this spring starting March 22, 2019, so give us a call and come fish with us this spring!
