About Schramsberg Vineyards
Founded in 1965 by visionaries Jack and Jamie Davies, Schramsberg Vineyards revived a historic Napa Valley estate originally established in 1862 by German immigrant Jacob Schram. At a time when California’s wine industry was just beginning to take shape, the Davies set out to craft world-class sparkling wines using the time-honored Méthode Traditionnelle, the same technique used in Champagne.
Schramsberg made history with the release of California’s first Blanc de Blancs in 1965, followed by the Blanc de Noirs in 1967—setting a new standard for American sparkling wine. Today, their son Hugh Davies leads the winery, continuing the family’s commitment to excellence and innovation.
From hand-harvested grapes sourced from California’s finest cool-climate vineyards to meticulous barrel fermentation and aging in historic hand-dug caves, every bottle of Schramsberg tells a story of craftsmanship, heritage, and passion. Their portfolio includes nine celebrated sparkling wines and a growing collection of still wines under the Davies Vineyards label, including Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon from their estate on Diamond Mountain.
Producing just 100,000 cases annually, Schramsberg remains dedicated to quality over quantity. Their wines consistently earn acclaim from sommeliers and critics alike, often outperforming top international labels in blind tastings.
